What Is SHALVA?

Learn about our parent organization, SHALVA!

By now you know about Seven Circles, but you might not know that we actually are a part of a larger organization, SHALVA.

You might not know that SHALVA has been around for almost 40 years, serving the Jewish community in ways you might not realize.

You might not know that SHALVA was founded by a group of Orthodox women who realized that their community, like so many others, had an issue that wasn’t being addressed: abuse. Domestic abuse was and is just as prevalent in the Jewish world as it is in the secular world. And so those women decided to do something about it, and founded SHALVA.

SHALVA serves people of all observance levels, martial statuses, and identities. The key, though, is that we are an organization that serves those in the Jewish community. Whether you practice religion regularly or it’s only a once or twice a year thing, SHALVA is here for you and your community!

And SHALVA is also not just about helping those who are in an abusive relationship—we want to lift up and promote healthy relationships, as well! That’s where Seven Circles comes in.

SHALVA will support without judgement, and without adding any stress—all of our programs, including Seven Circles, are 100% free. No one should have to forgo seeking help due to financial restrictions.

SHALVA is proud to be there for you always. If you are ever unsure about a relationship, yours or someone else’s, and you want to talk, give us a call at (773)-583-HOPE(4673) or visit www.shalvacares.org.
