I'll be honest, I don’t have a regular Shabbat practice, but I have many friends and family members who do! As Jewish identity continues to expand for individuals and families, so does how a person decides to observe Shabbat. Something I strive to do, for example, is leave my phone alone on Friday evenings. My partner sometimes expresses that I’m on my phone too much, so stepping away and being more mindful and present for an evening feels nice. I choose to do this on Friday nights because of Shabbat.
This is your invitation to bring Healthy Relationships into an upcoming Shabbat practice. Whether you observe Shabbat every week, or it’s something that isn’t typically on your radar, SHALVA’s collaboration on the Healthy Relationship x OneTable Shabbat Guide is the perfect way to engage. Our guide highlights the core components of Shabbat and connects them to questions, readings, and other ways to engage with your partner. Shabbat is all about unplugging and reconnecting with what’s important so what better topic than your relationship! You can use this guide for an intimate Shabbat, just you and your partner, or invite multiple couples to gather together. However you Shabbat, use this guide one week to deepen your connection with intention.
